Amber Care Family

Welcome to Amber Family

About Amber Family

Amber Family has three Residential Family Centres all located in Southport, Merseyside. Amber Family works in partnership with Mums & Dads over the age of 16; unfortunately we are unable to work with parents who are between the ages of 16 and 18, if they are looked after children themselves.

Along with the Local Authority and Universal Services, Amber Family will work with the parents to assess their parenting capacity. The 13 week placement considers the parent’s  ability to respond to their children’s needs and to safeguard and promote their welfare, now and in the future. Just before the end of their placement, Amber Family will provide an honest, fair, robust, court standard Parenting Assessment to assist the Local Authority with future care planning.

Supporting Parents

Each placement will be specifically tailored to the needs of the family. In the first week of placement, in consultation with the parents and the Local Authority, a placement plan will be developed and this will form the blueprint for the duration of the placement.

Our fully trained staff will be available to support families in the following areas:

  • Basic care for their child
  • Life story work
  • Healthy relationships
  • Budgeting
  • Keeping baby safe
  • Five to Thrive
  • Childhood illnesses
  • Weaning and balanced diet

Make a Referral

To request a referral form, or to find out about room availability:

Telephone: 01704 807170
Or e-mail: referrals@amberfamily.co.uk

The care and protection of our parents and their children is paramount and no placement will be confirmed until our comprehensive referral form has been received from the Local Authority. This enables us to undertake a matching process with parents already residing in Amber Family.

After our matching process has been completed a Risk Assessment will be produced and sent to the referring Local Authority outlining if Amber Family are in a position to accept the parents and their child/children.

Our Registered Managers need to be satisfied that acceptance of any new parents in our settings will not have an impact on those families already undergoing assessment.
