Father’s Day

It was Father’s Day yesterday. It is held every year on the third Sunday of June; this year Father’s Day fell on Sunday, June 19^th in the UK. Father’s Day was first celebrated officially in Spokane, America on the 19^th of June 1910.

Lots of people see Father’s Day as the perfect opportunity to make a special effort to celebrate their father, or someone who is a father figure in their life. As family structures have changed, we have adapted as a society, and this day allows us to thank those who have stepped up and looked after us, regardless of genes.

Typically, this is also a good reason to get the family together, so as well as celebrating our fathers we also hopefully get to reconnect with other loved ones as well.
