Carers Week 2022

9th June 2022

This week is carers week, which runs from the 6th-12th of June this year. Carers week is dedicated to raising awareness for unpaid carers in the community and the challenges they face. It helps people who wouldn’t consider themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify themselves as a carer and access much needed assistance. It is about making unpaid carers feel visible, valued and supported.

A carer is someone who is providing unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, addiction, or just someone who needs extra help as they get older. This does not include people who are employed to give support, or who volunteer for an organisation.

Carers are often a life-line for the people they care for, yet sometimes the effort they put into that care is overlooked or undervalued, even by the people closest to them. This is why it is important to acknowledge all of their hard work and dedication.

So, to all those carers out there, Amber Family offers our thanks for all of the hard work you do!
